Consultation Services

Therapist and Client

Dr. Molly recently began offering consultation services to parents who wish to collaborate with a professional regarding questions, concerns, or resources. Through direct experience, she has seen how a supportive conversation and answering questions can provide parents with direction, strategies, lessen anxiety, and help them better understand the nuances and complexities of mental health services, educational services, or child development. Consultation is not the same as therapy or treatment. As such, it is not considered an ongoing relationship, nor is it covered by insurance, as there is no diagnosis or formal treatment provided. Consultation services may be helpful for a family that feels stuck, is hoping to better understand options before seeking out supports or services, or simply wants the opportunity to discuss concerns with a professional for input in a non-treatment setting. Consultation sessions are intended to be short term for one to two meetings. Dr. Molly is knowledgeable regarding behaviors and needs in young children and adolescents, services and supports for children, adolescents, and their families, as well as navigating school related difficulties. She values supporting families in a caring and collaborative manner.

Purpose of Consultation

Dr. Molly offers psychological consultation services to parents and caregivers who wish to collaborate with a licensed psychologist. Consultation is intended to provide education, professional guidance, and collaborative problem-solving. Families often seek consultation when they feel “stuck,” would like assistance understanding available options, or simply wish to discuss concerns with a professional in a non-treatment setting.

Nature of Consultation Services

Consultation is not psychotherapy, counseling, psychological treatment, psychological evaluation, or ongoing mental health care.

During consultation:

  • No diagnosis will be made.

  • No psychological treatment is provided.

  • No therapeutic relationship is established.

  • No formal assessment or evaluation is conducted.

  • Recommendations are educational and informational in nature.

  • Consultation is not intended to replace therapy, medical care, crisis services, or other professional treatment.

Because consultation is not diagnostic or considered treatment, these services are not reimbursable through health insurance and are considered private-pay. For more information or to see if this service is the right fit for your family, please reach out.
